4 Exhibitions- 4 Resources
This weekend, I had the privilege of touring the Painting exhibition at the Esker Foundation.
On exhibition until April 26, 2026, you can tour through the galleries and see the work by:
Anthony Cudahy: metronome yawned
Justin de Verteuil: sie will / muse. zur marionette
Magalie Guérin: Orange to Rattle
and
Alexandre Pépin: Lavender website.
During my visit, I documented my observations and brainstormed ideas to develop new educational resources that build on the inspiration and insights of the featured painters. Below are two painting units, one art analysis, and a research prompt for senior high students in Alberta. These classroom tools can be adapted to your classroom, and assessment standards can be adjusted in the rubrics.
For more information on the exhibition, visit the Esker Foundation's website.

Please download and use these resources in your classes. If you find them helpful, I'd love for you to leave a comment below to help me create even better resources in the future.
Fragmented Fields: Painting Through Pattern
(Art 30)
Inspired by Alexander Pépin’s structured compositions, this painting unit examines how grid systems, repetition, and colour hierarchy shape meaning in everyday imagery.
Borderlands: Layered Mixed Media Identity (Art 20)
Drawing on the layered figurative work of Justin de Verteuil, this mixed-media unit explores how material transparency and symbolic imagery can express tensions in identity.
Happy Creating!
